Hand-cast museum replica - figures made of polyresin (artificial stone) with an antique look.

Replica of the Lewis chess pieces. The original chess pieces were found on the Scottish "Isle of Lewis" in 1831 and consist of a total of 78 chess pieces. Hence the name. The island belonged to Norway at the end of the 12th century. The figures were probably made in Norway in 1150 and were made from ivory, walrus teeth and whale teeth. The viking game brought the chess game to Europe early on. It is believed that a Norwegian trader hid the figures on the island. The majority of the original figures are exhibited in the British Museum.
