Njörd god of navigation, the seas, the winds, fertility and wealth. Figure, bronzed, made of polyresin.
Order number: 67.615Njörd (ord. Njǫrðr) is the Norse god of the sea and the wind. He is god of wealth, shipping, fishing, god of fertility and harvests.
Njörd comes from the Wanen family and was the husband of the winter goddess Skadi. Together with Skadi you fathered the children Freya and Freyr.
The marriage with Skadi failed because they couldn't live in the same place. They had previously agreed that Njörd would stay with Skadi in Thrymheim for nine nights and Skadi would stay with Njörd by the sea for three nights. But Skadi could not sleep because of the cries of seagulls in Nóatún, and Njörd could not bear the howling of the wolves.
Made and cast from polyresin (artificial stone). The figure is fully cast (not hollow) and covered with real bronze.
