Thanksgiving- Fall Sacrifice- Day-and-Night match.
Thanksgiving for the Germans lasted three days from 21-23 September. They gave a large feast and drank mead. The gods are thanked for the harvest. They left a clump of grain in the field so that the Odins horse Sleipnir also had something to eat. A wreath was woven from the last grain cut. As a victim, the last apple was often left hanging on the tree.
Sometimes a "harvest fire was lit and sometimes it was customary to throw a small" fruit sacrifice ", cereal grains, and other sheaves into the fire.
Samhain (so-called Halooween) is one of the four major Irish-Celtic festivals and takes place in the night from October 31 to November 1. It is a festival of the dead at which the ancestor is remembered. During this time, it was believed that the souls of the dead had also returned to their homes. The festival also celebrated the end of summer, the arrival of cattle in the stables.
Customs and customs differ or partially overlap in different cultures. Samhain and the Autumn Victim Festival are of pagan origin, partly persecuted, reinterpreted by the Christian church or used / misused for their purposes.
It is up to us to maintain the old customs in the original tradition ...
