The Vegvísir is a mystical magical symbol that is believed to be - or portrays itself to be - a "guide through life".
There are various assumptions about the meaning and structure of the symbol.
The symbol is known from the Huld Manuscript around 1880. Attribution to the Vikings is disputed and has not yet been proven.
The center of the eight-spoked symbol, resembling a Hagal rune, represents the "I".

It will u.a. suspects that this could be the 9 worlds from Norse mythology:

• The Upper World: Asgard - Vanahhome - Lichtalfhome
• The Middle World: Muspilhome - Midgard - Niflhome
• The Lower World: Svartalfhome - Jötunhome - Hel

The Huld Manuscript was not written until hundreds of years after the end of the Viking Age.
It says in the manuscripts: "When this mark is worn, one will never lose oneself in storms or bad weather, even if the way is not known."
The word "Vegvísir" comes from the Icelandic language and means signpost!
In the Huld manuscripts, we do not find a clear indication of the source of where the symbol came from, nor any assignment to the early Middle Ages (or possibly even earlier times).
It is also not clear whether it was used for navigating on ships, for example.

We are deliberately keeping a low profile here, as no provable evidence has been provided so far.
However, the magical charisma, power and strength of the symbol can hardly be denied!
