Eggcup "Hahn" made of linden wood, handpainted

Known from Germanic mythology are the three roosters that announce Ragnarok through their crows.

1. The fiery red rooster Fjalar, who lives at Eggdir on the edge of Jötunhome in a pine bush and announces with his crows Ragnarök (the rooster announces the fire that Ragnarök brings with it)
2. The rooster Gullinkambi (Golden Ridge) calls the captives at Valhalla to battle
3. The red-brown / dark-brown rooster Fialar lives in the dead world of the goddess Hel

The golden cock is also known under the name Widofnir (Vindofnir)! Widofnir watches over the integrity of the World Tree Yggdrasil (Mimameid).
The rooster is also Heimdall's pet.

The phrase "put on the roof the red rooster" means to burn down a building.
In an old lansquenet song "We are the Geyers black heap"  (Wir sind des Geyers schwarzer Haufen) is also sung "puts the red cock on the roof of the monastery"  (setzt aufs Klosterdach den roten Hahn).. It means the church and the priest!
