The sea god Njord has given this sea buckthorn liqueur its name. Njord was the husband of the winter goddess Skadi. Together with Skadi you have fathered the children Freya and Freyr.

Marriage to Skadi failed because you couldn't live in the same place. You previously agreed that Njord should stay nine nights at Skadi in Thrymheim and Skadi three nights at Njord by the sea.
