This crystal salt was created by the dehydration of a primordial sea more than 22 million years ago.
Origin: The Salt Range is located in Punjab province in northern Pakistan; This is located 200-300 kilometers south of the Himalayas. The huge, 400-600 meters deeper, salt deposit belongs to the southwestern foothills of the Himalayas. This salt range was created by the active thrusting of sedimentary sequences in the foreland of the Himalayas. Geologically, therefore, the Salt Range is part of the growing Himalayan Mountain System. The Himalayan Mountains originated during the Tertiary through continental drift.
The crystal salt comes from the Salt Range in the province of Punjab, about 200 km south of the Himalayas.
