Rowan liqueur "Donars Retter", 18% vol., 0.5 ltr. Bottle
In Germanic times, the rowan tree was dedicated to the thunder god Donar. This is also the origin of the Norwegian name "Thorsbjörg," which means something like Thor's rescue.
The Edda describes how Thor, on his journey to the giant Geirröd, was swept away by the mighty Strim Vimur. He tried to swim across the current, but the magic of the giantess Gialp caused it to swell ever higher. Just before Thor's strength seemed to be exhausted, he caught a branch from a rowan tree that was growing over the bank. Thus, the thunder god was able to save himself.
