Belt buckle "Hugin and Munin", pewter

Pewter belt buckle with dark red enamel accents – suitable for belts up to 4.5 cm wide. Matching belt with item number 55.002.

The two famous ravens from the Edda, who sit on Odin's shoulders: They fly out into the world every day and return for breakfast to tell Odin the news from all over the world.
Therefore, Odin is also called the "Raven God" (Hrafnaguð).
Odin is also known under the name Hrafnáss (Raven God).

Hugin and Munin are Odin's ravens.

  • Hugin (Icelandic: Huginn) comes from the Old Norse verb huga and translates as: to think / thought. Hugin thinks about everything he sees and draws his conclusions from it.
  • Munin (Icelandic: Muninn) comes from the Old Norse verb muna and translates as: to remember / memory. Munin remembers everything he has seen.

Together they travel through the worlds. In the evening they return to Odin and tell him what they have seen and heard.
In Norse mythology, ravens are considered mystical and magical beings that, among other things, can distinguish between lies and truth.

This beautiful pewter belt buckle is meant to make us thoughtful, to remind us of Odin's raven Hugin - thought, and Munin - memory!
