Belt buckle "Valhalla" Walhalla, pewter (partially gilded)

Belt buckle Walhalla, Valhalla, Valhöll - Wotan's Hall.

Valhalla is Odin's residence and drinking hall in Asgard.
Walhalla is located in Frohheim (Gladsheim, Old Norse Glaðsheimr Glanzheim) in the grove of Glesnir.
Gladsheim is adorned with gold and precious stones. The river "Thund" flows protectively around Gladsheim.

The roof of Valhalla is covered with battle shields, and the walls are built of spears - as can be read in the Edda "Grimnismal 9".
Valhalla is of enormous size: there are 540 gates; through each of these gates 800 Einherjar can simultaneously enter or march out to battle - as can be read in the Edda "Grimnismal 23".
In the center of Valhalla stands the world tree "Läradr," which is highly likely to be the same as the world ash "Yggdrasil." The goat "Heidrun" eats the leaves from the branches of "Läradr," and so much mead flows from her udder that all Einherjar can be amply supplied with it daily.
Every day, Odin's Einherjar warriors clash in battle. In the evenings, everyone gathers in Odin's hall for a grand feast. The Valkyries serve beer and mead, and daily the boar Sæhrímnir is slaughtered and eaten. The cook and grill master in Valhalla is called Andhrímnir (Soot-Face), whose face is blackened from constantly standing by the cauldron of fire.
Every day, the boar Sæhrímnir miraculously comes back to life and must be slaughtered, prepared, and cooked over the fire again.
The Valkyries also have the task of collecting the honorably fallen warriors on the battlefields and bringing them to Valhalla.

Among the Vikings, it was customary to hold one's sword in hand when dying - combined with the belief that one would then go to Valhalla to live and celebrate there with Odin for eternity.
Other “warriors”, who had distinguished themselves as cowards during their lifetime in Midgard, had to spend the rest of their lives in the desolate and unpopular Helheim under the care of the death goddess Hel!
The really bad "scoundrels", who had distinguished themselves in Midgard as, for example, perjurers, murderers and adulterers, were sent to Nastrond (Náströnd) into eternal exile, an even more desolate place which also belongs to Helheim.

It may certainly be more difficult to reach Valhalla in modern times... - but our gaze and faith should always be directed towards Valhalla!
Through heroism, sincerity, perseverance and willingness to sacrifice, one may hopefully secure one's place - alongside the many Einherjar warriors and ancestors whom we may then meet and see again in Valhalla.

The belt buckle is meant to be worn as a reminder and in remembrance of our ancestors...
We will all meet again in Valhalla, if we only want to....
