The Borre style is dated to the 9th to 10th century and was named after the Borre grave find in Vestfold / Norway. Viking Age pendant in the Borre style, modeled after a find from Finland. This one features four animal heads and a snake pattern. The four animal heads could also represent the seasons. Typical features of the style include animal ornaments, animal heads, and knotwork. The Borre style is also known as the griffin style and was particularly widespread in eastern Scandinavia.
