CD Poeta Magica - Edda Vol. 2

With the brand-new CD "EDDA Vol. II - spoken Edda," "Poeta Magica" successfully strikes a balance between a music CD and an audiobook. The poems of the Edda can be heard as stories; sometimes thought-provoking, sometimes amusing. They were recited and written by the renowned philologist Prof. Dr. Ulrich Mehler, who also contributed to the 1999 "Sequentia" Edda production. The work is rounded off by the recitation of the original text of the "Grimnismál," spoken by Rainer Hildebrand. The texts are underscored with the sounds of authentic instruments and embedded between melodies that rank among the oldest known from Scandinavia. With virtuosity, clear soundscapes, influences ranging from classical to jazz, and original compositions, the CD "EDDA Vol. II - spoken Edda" achieves its own distinctive style and allows a new facet to be discovered with every new listening session.

Music & stories from Iceland and Scandinavia: As a continuation of the CD "EDDA - vol. I," POETA MAGICA presents the audiobook "EDDA - vol. II." The contemporary adaptation of the monumental Old Norse collection of poems is a unique synthesis of storytelling, musical inspiration, and virtuosity. The poems of the Edda can be heard as stories; sometimes thought-provoking, sometimes amusing. They were recited and written by the renowned philologist Prof. Dr. Ulrich Mehler. The work is rounded off by the recitation of the original text of the "Grimnismál," performed by Rainer Hildebrand. The texts are underscored with sounds and tones and embedded between melodies that rank among the oldest known from Scandinavia.

POETA MAGICA works with rare Nordic instruments: the ensemble surrounding "Nyckelharpa pope" Holger Funke plays more than a dozen different Nyckelharpa models—sometimes traditionally, sometimes with influences of jazz and classical music, and sometimes in original compositions. A musical journey to the North in keeping with POETA MAGICA's motto: nordic.pagan.folk
