CD Poeta Magica - SAGA
A fascinating voice, virtuoso musicians, and rousing arrangements, all united by a deep love for the North: the album "Saga" offers all of this.
Beautiful ballads and melodies, carried by the sonic richness of Nordic instruments and the magical voice of Saga Björling.
The singer from Gotland and the ensemble Poeta Magica, rooted in Nordic folk and medieval music, create a soundscape that reaches from lonely Nordic forests to lovely lakes in the summer light. The ensemble, led by multi-instrumentalist Holger Funke, relies on Celtic harp, stringed instruments, the Swedish bagpipes, and above all the nyckelharpa, the Swedish national instrument. The multifaceted nyckelharpa playing of Holger Funke and Boris Koller, interwoven with the nuanced percussion of Friederike Funke, the brilliant harp playing of Katja Hütte, and the accentuated open-tune guitar sound of Jørgen Lang, combines with the enchanting singing of Saga Björling to create a sound that transcends time and space.
