Irish historical belt, leather, black - "Legore find"
Early medieval 3 cm wide, black Irish belt with strap end.
This remarkable belt with strap tongue is based on the find of the early medieval buckle from Lagore, which originates from Ireland and dates to the 7th to 8th century.
The original buckle from Lagore was provided with a long bar with an eyelet and measured 18 cm. It was suitable for belts 1.5 cm wide.
The reproduction of this belt buckle, however, has larger dimensions of 10.8 x 4.2 cm. The strap end was crafted in the same style.
.
The Lagore belt buckle is now in the possession of the National Museum of Ireland.
The belt is long enough to be worn knotted. The belt circumference can easily be reduced or increased with a leather hole punch.
