Yule candlestick / family candlestick / traditional candlestick, natural ceramic

Untreated red natural clay. The Yule lantern was newly made from ceramics based on original designs.

The heart symbol represents the pulse of life, and the Hagal rune (younger Futhark) initially symbolizes hail and snow, and in a deeper sense, according to the existential law that past event patterns influence the present (in the image of the devastating hail, which, after melting, refreshes the green land). Thus, Hagal symbolizes energies that originated in the past and continue to affect the present.
In ancient times, the solstice ceremony was performed as follows: During a certain period (varying regionally in length) before the winter solstice on December 21st, the candle stub from the previous year (which had to be kept in a special vessel throughout the year) was placed in the lantern. The un-turned sun was thereby symbolized by the light projection of the heart and rune in the room. The light must never go out. On the night of December 21st, the burning candle is placed on the lantern – the sun has turned, as popular saying goes, it has gone over itself. The candle then remains on the lantern for varying lengths of time (also regionally), mostly until after the Twelve Nights (January 6th) in the Alpine region. The stub of the last candle remains in that special place to illuminate the next solstice.
Its form symbolizes the Midnight Mountain. Due to the Great Migration, the custom arose from East Frisia far into Scandinavia of placing a small light under the lantern as a symbol of the departing year. At the solstice, at the time of the returning light, a candle is lit on the lantern, as a symbol of the victory of light over darkness, but also as a symbol of the eternal cycle of becoming and passing away.
The Yule lantern is new and was made from natural red clay based on original designs.
This is NEW GOODS, handmade.

The width of the Yule lanterns is about 11-12 cm, the height about 22 cm.
