The triskele, or triskelion ("three-legged"), is a Celtic symbol in the form of three running legs or, more generally, open spirals arranged in an isosceles triangle.
In general, this symbol, for which historical examples can be found in Newgrange, Ireland, for instance, is associated with pagan triad symbolism. Little is known about the original meaning of the triskelion spirals. It is often assumed—as with most spiral forms—that they represent the path of life (sun symbol).
