Beagnoth seax with rune engraving and leather sheath

Reconstruction and replica of a 9th-century Anglo-Saxon long seax. The original was found in the River Thames in London in 1857 and is currently on display at the British Museum. It is therefore also known as the Thames scramasax or Thames sword.
The blade is elaborately engraved and features a runic inscription, with the first part displaying the Anglo-Saxon futhorc. The second part of the inscription is Beagnoth, presumably the name of the owner or the bladesmith.
This replica corresponds largely in shape and dimensions to the early medieval original.
The single-edged blade features, in addition to the inscription described above, a narrow but quite deep, continuous fuller.
The wooden grip scales are attached to the tang by means of brass rivets and are also held in place by two brass rings.
The blade is unsharpened. A sturdy and authentic cowhide leather sheath is included.
