Mammen axe / battle axe from Jutland (Denmark)
Mammen-Axe
Modeled after the famous Mammen axe from the 10th century.
The original axe was found near Mammen in Jutland (Denmark) in a princely grave and is currently housed in the National Museum of Denmark in Copenhagen. The axe head features richly decorated, silver-tipped ornamentation in the Mammen style (late Jelling style).
The grave of the so-called Mammenfund (Danish: Mammenfundet) is dated to approximately the year 970 AD, i.e., to the reign of Harald Bluetooth.
