Modeled after the famous Mammen axe from the 10th century.
The original axe was found near Mammen in Jutland (Denmark) in a princely grave and is currently housed in the Danish National Museum in Copenhagen. The axe blade features rich silver-inlaid ornamentation in the Mammen style (younger Jelling style).
The grave of the so-called Mammen find (Danish: Mammenfundet) is dated to around 970 AD, during the reign of Harald Bluetooth.
