The raven in Norse mythology:
Huginn and Muninn are Odin's ravens.
Odin is also known, among other names, as Hrafnáss (Raven God).
His two ravens:
- Huginn (Icelandic: Huginn) is derived from the Old Norse verb huga and translates to: to think / thought. Huginn thinks about everything he sees and draws his conclusions from it.
- Muninn (Icelandic: Muninn) is derived from the Old Norse verb muna and translates to: to remember / memory. Muninn remembers everything he has seen.
Together, they fly through the worlds and return to Odin in the evening to report to him what they have seen and heard.
In Norse mythology, they are considered mystical and magical beings who, among other things, can distinguish truth from falsehood.
