The name of the wine is intended to commemorate the "god" Kvasir.
Kvasir is a "god" in Norse mythology, created by the Aesir and Vanir when they made peace. Kvasir therefore united the abilities of both divine lineages within himself and surpassed all beings in wisdom. Later he was killed by the dwarves Fjalar and Galar, who mixed his blood with honey and prepared the mead, by whose enjoyment everyone becomes a poet. After this mead had been in the possession of the giants for some time, Odin managed to get it into his possession, and has since shared it with his favorites, the Skalds.
Fjalar and Galar lost the Kvasir-Skaldic mead to the giant Suttungr. Odin came into possession of the drink by seducing his daughter Gunnlöð, and to him the Aesir owed their wisdom and humans their intellectual gifts.
