Brass seal with triskelion.

The triskelion, or triskele ("three-legged"), is a Celtic symbol in the form of three running legs or, more generally, open spirals arranged in an equilateral triangle.
In general, this symbol, for which historical examples can be found in places such as Newgrange in Ireland, is associated with pagan triad symbolism. Little is known about the original meaning of the triskelion spirals. It is often assumed—as with most spiral forms—that they represent the path of life (sun symbol).
