Vegvísir (Signpost) "Viking Compass" pendant, gold-plated stainless steel

Vegvísir - Wayfinder - Pendant made of stainless steel, gold-plated.
 
The Vegvísir is a mystical magical symbol, which was ultimately probably meant to be (or represents) a "guide through life"!
There are various theories about the meaning and structure of the symbol.
The symbol is known from the Huld manuscript from around 1880. Its attribution to the Vikings is controversial and has not yet been proven.
The center of the eight-spoked symbol, which resembles a Hagal rune, stands for the "self".
 
Among other things, it is assumed that it could represent the 9 worlds from Norse mythology:
  • The Upper World: Asgard - Vanaheim - Ljósálfheimr
  • The Middle World: Múspellsheimr - Midgard - Niflheim
  • The Lower World: Svartálfaheimr - Jötunheim - Hel
The Huld manuscript was written hundreds of years after the end of the Viking Age.
It is stated in the manuscripts: "If this sign is carried, one will never lose one's way in storms or bad weather, even if the path is unknown."
The word "Vegvísir" comes from the Icelandic language and means wayfinder!
We do not find a clear source reference in the Huld manuscripts as to where the symbol originated, nor any attribution to the early Middle Ages - or possibly even earlier times.
It is also not clearly known whether it was used for navigation on ships, for example.
 
We therefore deliberately keep a low profile here, as no verifiable evidence has been provided so far.
However, the magical aura, power, and strength of the symbol are hardly debatable!

The back of the pendant is smoothly polished - without a motif.
