Valkyries - Goblet / Valkyria Valkyrie, Polyresin / Stainless Steel

"Valkyrie" bronze-colored goblet, made of polyresin (artificial stone) - stainless steel insert, removable for cleaning.

A Valkyrie, also known as a battle maiden or shield maiden, is part of the retinue of Odin (Wotan), the Allfather of the gods. The Valkyries escorted the Einherjar from the battlefield to Valhalla, the hall of Odin (Wotan), the god of war and the dead.

The Valkyrie waits at a distance on the edge of the battlefield to escort fallen heroes to Valhalla. Only those who find death on the battlefield are chosen by the Valkyries. Everyone else is awaited by the goddess Hel in the underworld after death.
Valkyria is the Old Norse word for Valkyrie. Wal stands for "heap of the slain" and kyria stands for "chooser". The warrior women are both Odin's helpers and his daughters. They fulfill the wishes of the Allfather, choose the warriors who have fallen in battle, and bring them to him. The Valkyries can also intervene in battles and determine fate. The role of the Valkyries is therefore similar to that of the three Norns. It is assumed that the youngest Norn, Skuld, was also a Valkyrie.
The warrior women, like the Einherjar, live in Valhalla. Their residence in Valhalla is Wingolf, the hall of friendship.
In the Northern Lights, the Vikings saw a sign of the Valkyries' presence on Earth. They believed a great battle was being fought somewhere on Earth. The moon reflected the golden armor of the Valkyries as they rode over the battlefield choosing the Einherjar. This is how the Northern Lights were conjured into the sky.
