This Viking helmet is handcrafted from iron, based on an original from the period around 550-793 AD!
A similar original helmet was found at Gjermundbu in Norway and is now in the National Museum of Antiquities in Oslo. The helmet is part of a large grave find from the Vendel period (550 - 793 AD) in Norway. Our helmet fits everyone up to a head size of 64 cm. This helmet has a material thickness of 2 mm and can withstand the strongest sword blows. It has an adjustable cowhide leather lining and a leather chin strap.
The helmet features a large chainmail weave all around it in the well-known "4 rings in one" weave, similar to medieval chainmail shirts.
The overall height of the helmet from the bottom edge of the "nose tip" to the tip of the spike is 32 cm and the helmet width inside (from ear to ear) is 21 cm. The helmet weighs approximately 2.78 kg including leather lining and chainmail aventail (chainmail guard). Suitable for stage combat.
