Viking - Warrior on Horse, Lewis figure, folk art / statue made of polyresin (artificial stone)
Lewis Chessman Warrior
In 1831, 78 chess pieces were discovered on the shore of the Scottish island of Lewis, among other items.
The originals are largely carved from walrus ivory and are believed to have originated in Trondheim (Norway), dating from 1150–1200 AD.
Most of the pieces can be admired today in the British Museum in London, while the others are held in the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.
A warrior is sitting on a small horse (likely a Viking or Icelandic pony); he carries a spear on his right side and a shield on his left.
The figure is a replica modeled after the original.
Made of polyresin (artificial stone).
