Viking Smoked Salt Juniper 40g
Viking smoked salt from Denmark
Also ideal for a barbecue evening, a festive table, a Germanic wedding - traditional Germanic wedding customs, smoked salt as a gift for the marriage covenant / handfasting ceremony
Impressively bold flavor, aromatic smoke, fire, intense seasoning. These impressions convey the appearance as well as the aroma of what is arguably the most exquisite Danish smoked salt variety today. Incidentally, only about 5% of all smoked salts are actually smoked. Most types of smoked salt are infused with smoke flavorings.
Our smoked salt is made exclusively from salt from the Dead Sea and smoked in the Viking style. For this purpose, juniper wood is imported specifically from Norway, as low-pollutant wood grows there. The salt smoked with juniper wood is popular with many of our customers because it is smooth on the palate with its many nuances of flavor and is savory in taste. The salt is smoked at 65–85 degrees in a lengthy and costly process in specially developed ovens.
Using this salt gives one an idea of how the Nordic peoples obtained their salt. Seawater or brine was poured onto a burning fire. The water content evaporated, and the precipitated salt adhered to the charred logs. The salt was scraped off the wood and could then be used.
Viking smoked salt is excellently suited for:
Eggs, tomatoes, cucumbers, fish, and all types of meat. It gives steaks a special flavor reminiscent of meat prepared over an open fire, even when cooked in the oven.
The shelf life is unlimited. The salt container should always be kept tightly closed so that the smoky aroma is not lost. There are no anti-caking agents, flavor enhancers, or other additives in this smoked salt.
