Nutcracker - Mushroom, cracks even very hard nuts, beech wood

Decorative nutcracker in the shape of a porcini mushroom - made from beech wood. It makes cracking hazelnuts and walnuts child's play for adults and children alike...
The nut no longer slips away while being cracked, and the shell fragments do not fly around, as the nut is cracked in a controlled manner via the coarse screw thread.

The porcini mushroom in mysticism:
Porcini mushrooms, as well as other mushrooms, can grow in a circle; in folklore, these circles are called witch rings or fairy rings.
The root system of the mushrooms forms in such a way that the mushroom fruit bodies create a circle or settle in a circular pattern.
In some places, these mushroom rings are still considered meeting places for fairies or so-called witches today.
Witch or fairy rings in superstition and folk tradition:
When mushroom circles form, the root system growing outward in a circle develops first, which then allows the fruit bodies (mushrooms) to grow on the outer edge of the circle.
In folklore, these witch rings were or are considered mystical meeting places for witches or fairies. Entering the circles is said to have magical effects and is therefore considered forbidden.
In the fairy or elf ring, some believe, fairies or elves dance their spiritual round dance at midnight...
(In order not to slip into the realm of fairies and elves, it is considered forbidden in superstition to enter the fairy ring)
Karl Bartsch published in his work “Albrecht von Halberstadt und Ovid im Mittelalter” an attempt to reconstruct ancient folk traditions, in which, among other things, forest women (Waltfrouwen) danced and sang in rings in sacred groves. These forest women could have been wise women with a fairy-like aura, who were later referred to as witches.
The spiritual “occult” dances in mushroom rings (elf rings) must have had a special nature-religious significance here - in which both the fly agaric and the porcini mushroom were given special attention in shamanic rituals by the “Wise Women” (fairies, elves, beings of light).

Cracking nuts with little effort: Very well suited for children and seniors due to the larger head diameter

  • Handcrafted
  • Decorative and useful
  • Made of solid, local beech wood
  • Smooth operation thanks to the oiled screw thread
All kinds of nuts can be cracked with our handy mushroom-shaped nutcracker. Whether you prefer eating walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds, or macadamia nuts - This mushroom also cracks nuts with very hard shells.
Simply place the desired nut into the wooden mushroom, place your palm in front of the opening, and turn the mushroom head. By covering the opening, the shells do not fly wildly around the room. Also suitable for children and seniors: due to the leverage of the wooden screw, it is possible to crack nuts without much force. Another great advantage of our nutcracker is that no fingers or skin can be pinched, even if one is inattentive.
The nutcrackers are made of local beech wood and then oiled. Thanks to the high-quality oiling, this nutcracker can also be used as decoration. As a hardwood, beech is particularly durable and well-suited for kitchen and household items. Should the thread become difficult to turn or squeak, you can simply add a drop of sunflower oil.
Even the little ones among us can easily crack nuts or use the nutcracker for crafting animals from chestnuts, thanks to the larger head and ergonomic shape. Through the front opening of approx. 4 cm, you can clamp the chestnuts to drill a hole in them.

Our tip: Place the most stubborn nuts in the freezer for an hour or in water overnight before cracking. This will make the shell easier to crack. Guaranteed! Another advantage: You usually get whole halves.

The "Porcini" nutcracker has the following dimensions:

  • Size: approx. 10 x 6.5 cm
  • Weight: approx. 110 g.
  • At the end of the screw thread, there is a metal insert for reinforcement to protect the wooden screw.
  • Thanks to the metal insert, cracking nuts becomes absolute child's play!!
  • Nordwelt recommendation! Beautiful gift idea - not just for Yule.

Macadamia nuts are considered the hardest nuts in the world and CANNOT be cracked with this nutcracker.

Suitable for children aged 3 and up.
Our tip: Place the most stubborn nuts in the freezer for an hour or in water overnight before cracking. This will make the shell easier to crack. Guaranteed! Another advantage: You usually get whole halves.
